Greece Golden Visa 2023: Discover the Latest Rules on How to Obtain Your Greek Residency Permit Through Investment?
Investing in Greece holds many lucrative investment opportunities, complemented by the freedom of an investor visa, especially taking into consideration the ideal timing of the Greek economy recovering from a recession as well as the Golden Visa scheme. Greece offers the most affordable Golden Visa option to date with a minimum of 250 000 euros, the lowest investment capital required for a European residence permit.
From May 1st 2023, Greece increase the minimum value of the property that must be acquired to grant eligibility for a Golden Visa to 500,000 euros in certain parts of the country, according to an amendment tabled in Parliament.
The new minimum value at the time of purchase will apply to:
- The Central and South Sector of Athens
- Mykonos
- Santorini
- The Municipality of Thessaloniki
In the case of an investment in the above-mentioned areas through the purchase of an undivided co-ownership percentage of a property, the minimum value of the co-ownership percentage is set at five hundred thousand (500,000) euros and the investment is allowed ONLY in ONE property.
Τransitional period: Investors buying in the areas affected and who have already paid a 10% of the property value as a deposit before 30/06/2023 will be eligible to conclude the property contracts up to 31/12/2023 and still apply under the old 250 000 scheme. In case the deal will fail up to the cut-off date, the investors will be able to replace it with another property and still apply under the previous 250 000 scheme, provided they will have concluded the transaction up to 31.12.2023.
Golden Visa for the rest of Greece is said to remain at 250,000 euros.
